Direct influence in the sense that, an expert is physically present and very much aware or involved in transferring knowledge to the learner. Mostly, his presence is meant to correct mistakes, introduce new methods and also, monitor the progress of the learner. But it could also be indirect, in the sense that, the expert may not necessarily be aware of the knowledge being passed but unknowingly plays a major role in making up the “prior” knowledge of the learner.and therefore has still played a role in the transfer of knowledge. This although does not mean that i totally disagree with the cognitive theory of practice and this article has really helped my understanding of social cognitive theory.
